What Is Up With PCR Hemp Oil?

Among so many other things that confuse consumers about hemp, PCR is one of them. Let’s break down what this oil actually is. Let’s begin!

What Is PCR Hemp Oil Really?

Why don’t we start off with the most confusing part of that title up above. PCR? What does that mean? If you were to straight up search PCR in Google, you would find polymerase chain reaction, which is a genetic DNA test method. This is not the PCR we are referring to. PCR in this instance, stands for “Phytocannabinoid-Rich”. Still confused? Read on.

The hemp plant contains more than just cannabinoids. Among other things, it has terpenes, fatty acids, flavonoids, vitamins, and phytocannaboids. All things our bodies naturally benefit from. To explain:

Terpenes: organic chemicals responsible for a plant’s scent or aroma. Over 20,000 terpenes have been identified in Kingdom Plantae.

Fatty Acids: molecules that store energy. Hemp seeds are among the most hyped sources of fatty acids.

Flavonoids: plant metabolites with bodily and plant protective qualities. Flavonoids act like antioxidant agents toward plant and human.

Phytocannaboids: natural plant occurring cannabinoids.

PCR hemp oil contains everything except CBD. In fact, they don’t even come from the same family! The cannabinoid CBD comes from industrial hemp, PCR hemp oil does not.

PCR Hemp Oil VS CBD Oil

Hemp oil is not the same as CBD oil. The primary difference here is that hemp oil comes from hemp seeds and CBD comes from the plant itself. Many people get confused about this difference. Hemp oil is normally used for cooking and can be easily purchased in your local grocery store, while CBD oil is more heavily regulated because it deals with THC or the removal of THC.

Hemp Oil VS Hemp Extract

For extra extra knowledge, let’s knock these terms out of the park. Hemp oil like we mentioned earlier comes from the seeds of the hemp plant or an upper family of hemp. Hemp extract is also interchangeable with CBD oil. Hemp extract comes from the pure plant, hemp oil or hemp seed oil comes from the seeds.

Isn’t Phytocannabinoid-Rich The Same Thing As Full Spectrum?

PCR or phytocannabinoid-rich is another term for full spectrum. While PCR hemp oil is not the same thing as CBD oil, PCR can be used generically whole plant CBD oil. This kind of oil tends to have a larger selection of the hemp plant like more terpenes and other minor cannabinoids and is usually a darker tone of yellow than other types of CBD oils. Full spectrum is more recognized than PCR, but they are one and the same.

Benefits of PCR Oil

PCR oil or full spectrum oil contains everything the natural hemp plant has, with regulation of THC levels of course. 0.3% THC is the federally approved amount that can be contained in hemp derived products. Why is it so beneficial?

The idea behind Phytocannabinoid-rich products is that two are better than one. Think of phytocannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, and every part that makes up hemp, as a member of a family, each with a different personality and contribution. If you were to isolate just CBD, that would make that product CBD isolate based. If you were to omit certain cannabinoids and get rid of the flavonoids and other parts, it would then be broad spectrum. A full spectrum or phytocannabinoid-rich oil has it all, making it extremely beneficial to consumers.
